Baglietto T52: tradition and future, three years on

Years later, some yachts remain interesting because of the ideas they introduced on board. This is the starting point for our journey through 20 years of Top Yacht Design: returning to the projects featured in the magazine and looking at them again today through the design choices that defined them.

In 2023, the pages of Top Yacht Design covered the debut of the Baglietto T52, a 52.32-metre superyacht that interpreted the shipyard’s DNA through a combination of tradition and innovation. An approach that quickly found a response in the market: following the first unit, eight more owners chose the project.

From hybrid propulsion to a new way of experiencing space

One of the most significant features of the first unit was its hybrid propulsion system, developed by combining two MTU engines, generators and a lithium battery pack. The system offered four operating modes, including Zero Emission navigation, using battery power for both propulsion and onboard services.

But innovation on the T52 was not limited to technology. In the project designed by Francesco Paszkowski, with interiors developed together with Margherita Casprini, the relationship with the sea also played a central role.

The 24-metre sun deck provided an exceptionally generous outdoor area, while the retractable pool at the stern could disappear completely when not in use, leaving the deck unobstructed. A retractable passerelle also connected the upper deck and sun deck in the forward area, creating continuity between the two levels.

Inside, teak, leather, hide and Botticino marble were combined with stainless steel and burnished metal, shaping contemporary interiors in which natural materials and custom-made furnishings contributed to the stylistic continuity of the project.

The T52 in Top Yacht Design’s 20th Anniversary

Three years later, returning to the Baglietto T52 means looking again at a project in which technology, transformable spaces and the identity of the shipyard were all part of the same vision. And this is precisely the idea behind Top Yacht Design’s 20th Anniversary: reopening our archive not simply to remember the yachts we have featured, but to revisit the design ideas that made them worth telling.
