The Maybach Ocean Club has taken a decisive step toward redefining maritime luxury by selecting the German shipyard Lloyd Werft Bremerhaven to build its first megayacht, the 155‑metre “Beyond Horizons.” The agreement, signed on 12 June 2026 at the Mercedes‑Benz Center of Excellence in Sindelfingen, secures the construction slot and marks a major milestone in the project’s technical development.
The final shipbuilding contract is expected by the end of 2026, with delivery planned for the winter season of 2029/2030. For the Maybach Ocean Club, this partnership represents the transition from vision to execution. As Co‑Founder Captain Matthias Bosse notes, Lloyd Werft brings “German engineering excellence, precision and discretion” – qualities that align perfectly with the ambition behind the yacht.
Founded in 1857 and known for technologically pioneering vessels such as Luna and Solaris, Lloyd Werft sees the project as an opportunity to explore new market segments. Managing Director Thorsten Rönner describes the concept as “extraordinary and forward‑looking,” highlighting the synergy between bold ideas and maritime expertise. The shipyard’s shareholder structure – with Lürssen and ZECH as key partners — further strengthens its ability to deliver a project of this scale.
A Future‑Ready Megayacht
“Beyond Horizons” will feature a hybrid propulsion system prepared for future methanol operation, with biodiesel serving as a transitional fuel. This approach positions the yacht at the forefront of sustainable innovation in the superyacht industry.
The exterior design, created by Mercedes‑Benz in collaboration with Dölker + Voges Design, brings the Maybach philosophy of “Sensual Purity” into the maritime world on an unprecedented scale. More than 4,600 square metres of deck space, elongated proportions and sculptural surfaces define a vessel intended to become a new icon of contemporary luxury.
A New Model of Shared Ultra‑Luxury
The Maybach Ocean Club is built on a clear market insight: more than 90% of private yachts remain unused for most of the year while generating significant operational costs. To address this inefficiency, the project adopts a highly curated fractional ownership model. A maximum of 300 members worldwide will gain access to the yacht, each enjoying approximately four weeks on board annually.
A dedicated foundation will ensure long‑term governance and stability, while all operational aspects – from technical management to logistics – will be centrally coordinated. As Co‑Founder Michael Hehn explains, the essence of the Club lies in “a community of exceptional individuals connected through shared experiences at sea.”
A Floating Sanctuary
Designed to accommodate up to 72 members and guests per voyage, “Beyond Horizons” offers an environment that blends privacy, comfort and cultural exchange. The yacht will feature 30 identical residence‑style suites of 74 square metres, each with a private balcony, along with six additional guest cabins in the bow.
Amenities include panoramic lounges, haute cuisine concepts, a split‑level infinity pool, high‑end wellness and fitness facilities, and a dedicated support vessel for helicopters, tenders and water sports equipment. The yacht will follow the seasonal routes of the global elite: the Mediterranean in summer and the Caribbean in winter.
Since the project’s initial announcement last December, several hundred prospective members have already expressed interest for “Beyond Horizons”, the beginning of a new way of experiencing life at sea.
