From 15 to 18 May La Spezia will host the first event dedicated to the design, construction, and refitting of superyachts: the Blue Design Summit, a summit organised by Promostudi and Clickutility Team, dedicated to the protagonists of the entire supply chain at national and international level to discuss the most topical and important issues for the nautical sector.
Italy on the podium for megayachts
Italian shipyards are known all over the world, with exports accounting for 86% of production. In 2023, more than 200 superyachts, yachts over 24 metres long, were delivered worldwide, with a total estimated value of more than 5.9 billion euros, and a large part of this comes from large Italian yards. More than 200 new yachts are expected to be delivered by 2024, while the growth trend in refitting also continues.
Blue Design Summit and Blue Mile Design Award
The Summit will also see the presentation of the awards of the first edition of the Miglio Blu Design Awards, decided in an open and independent selection process by a jury of designers, journalists and industry experts. “La Spezia is a world leader in the boating industry, thanks to the presence of major companies that are leaders in the construction of yachts and superyachts,” said La Spezia Mayor Pierluigi Peracchini, “and the Blue Mile was born precisely with the aim of creating a boating district that is able to be increasingly competitive at international level.
Blue Design Summit dedicated to sector operators
“Miglio Blu is a project created to give impetus and support to La Spezia’s nautical district, which over the years has taken on international importance.” Patrizia Saccone, Councillor of La Spezia, reiterates and continues “The city of La Spezia today occupies a competitive position in the Blue Economy sector thanks to training, technology, development and innovation, which are the key words that drive the “Blue Mile” philosophy.
Blue Design Summit is an event dedicated to operators in the sector, organised by Promostudi and Clickutility Team, and promoted by the Municipality of La Spezia, “Miglio Blu – La Spezia Nautical District”, the Port System Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea, and Confindustria La Spezia. Participation in the event is by payment or invitation only.
