San Lorenzo opens a new era with the agreement that Massimo Perotti, president of the shipyard of Avigliana has signed with Chris Bangle.
The American designer, who now leads the Chris Bangle Associates, will be responsible for conceiving the lines of the new range of products from Sanlorenzo yachts. A historic transition for a yard that, right from the entrance on the scene of Perotti ,has focused heavily on design. In this sense they remember the collaborations with Francesco Paszkowski, Officina Italiana Design and Rodolfo Dordoni, signatures that have contributed in these 10 years to bring prestige to the Italian brand. For Chris Bangle, this is the first experience in the field of yacht design. Building on its long experience in the automotive first with Fiat and then with BMW, Bangle will make a major contribution both in creative both in production processes. “I have great respect for the strength of the Sanlorenzo brand that draws on the quality and the passion with which the boats are built by the shipyard,” said Bangle. “I’m fascinated by the idea of working with the team of Sanlorenzo and to get to know more closely the world of yacht design and the challenges that are part of it”.
“I am also proud that Massimo Perotti has found in Chris Bangle Associates the interlocutor with which to continue the journey in this fascinating business venture.” For the moment, there is still total secrecy about the studio’s news, although during the press conference Perotti has referred to a first fiberglass model of 80 feet around hybrid propulsion and one exterior styling reminiscent of the explorer.
