It takes a lot of course to decide to build a yacht on spec, particularly in times as complex as these. But courage is one thing that Fulvio Codecasa, head of the eponymous Viareggio yard, has never been short of. In fact, on spec construction began recently on a new project known as the C127.
The yacht is a 58m designed by the Codecasa in-house technical team in collaboration with Pierluigi Ausonio’s Plana Design with the Milan-based m2atelier penning the interior décor. Sporting a steel hull topped by an aluminium superstructure, the C127 has a fast displacement hull, typical of a military vessel, that’s been tested in the SVA tank in Potsdam (outside Berlin) as well as optimised to deliver in excess of 20 knots.
If twin 2525 kW Caterpillar 3516E engines are fitted (3386 hp@1800 rpm), the C127 will hit 21 knots and yield an impressive range of over 6,000 nm at 12. The interiors include a master suite plus five two-berth guest cabins as well as a crew area with captain’s cabins and six twins.
The C127 will have a lift that will serve all decks, a large beach area with a hull door that opens out to create a chic bathing/sunning area, a gym area and a 3 x 3.5m pool on the sun deck. The yacht is scheduled for delivery in summer 2023. We’ll have more information then!
