There is an invisible thread that has always linked the depths of the sea to the world of Doxa, a brand that has transformed the diving watch into a true icon. Today, that thread continues to intertwine with new challenges, innovations and stories that smell of adventure.

At the helm is Jan Edöcs, CEO of Doxa, who leads the company with a clear vision: to preserve the legacy of a legend while pushing it towards new horizons. We met with him to hear about the launch of the new SUB 750T dedicated to Clive Cussler, the latest additions to the collection and the course Doxa is following in the vast sea of contemporary watchmaking.
2025 marks the launch of the SUB 750T, the third DOXA model dedicated to Clive Cussler.

How did the idea of celebrating the famous American writer with special editions come about?
It stems from the genuine bond between Cussler and Doxa. In his adventure novels, the famous author often had the protagonist Dirk Pitt wear a DOXA diving watch, helping to make the brand a legend among enthusiasts and divers. To honour this relationship, we have created limited editions inspired by his exploratory spirit and the vintage aesthetic that runs through his stories. The SUB 750T, unveiled on 15 July, his birthday, is the third tribute to this bond.

How were the two previous editions received? And what makes this collection unique?
With great enthusiasm, both by collectors and Cussler fans. Limited editions, rich in detail, combining watchmaking and storytelling: aged steel cases, retro-style luminescence, references to compasses and on-board instruments, along with discreet touches that recall the writer’s life and works.

From books to watchmaking: what milestones do you consider most significant in the history of DOXA?
1967 marked a turning point with the SUB 300 and its orange dial, which revolutionised underwater readability. Then came the famous “no decompression” bezel, developed with professional divers, which became the symbol of the brand. These innovations still inspire our reissues today and keep the daring spirit of Doxa alive.

What other new models are being presented this year?
The debut of the SUB 250T GMT, which marks the return of the GMT function, ideal for travellers. The SUB 200 features a new polished steel bezel, while the green “Sea Emerald” dial in particular illuminates the collection with a new shade, adding freshness and character.

Have you introduced any technical innovations or new materials?
Yes. The SUB 250T GMT features an independently adjustable GMT hand and a 24-hour ring to keep track of multiple time zones. We have introduced ceramic inserts for greater durability and polished steel bezels for a refined, contemporary look.

Who is DOXA’s ideal customer today?
Both the experienced diver, who appreciates robust performance and readability, and the collector who seeks tradition and iconic design. It is an audience that recognises the technical and historical value of each of our models.

The diver segment is competitive: what makes DOXA unique?
Authenticity, tradition and innovation. We were among the pioneers of diving watches with distinctive features such as the orange dial and cushion case. This pure DNA continues to set us apart and inspire those who choose us.

What is DOXA’s strategy for the coming years?
To remain faithful to water. DOXA will continue to focus on diving watches without branching out into other categories. Our customers know that they will always find consistency, innovation and respect for the tradition that defines us.
