Dutch Design partnership with Savoir

Dutch Design, the Amsterdam-based marine innovation studio responsible for introducing the world’s only wellness-first yacht concept, Sea Rover, is entering a mulI- year partnership with Savoir, the British heritage brand renowned for creating the finest handmade beds since 1905.

Founded by American businessman and longIme yacht owner, Scott Blum, and led by award-winning designer, Bernd Weel, Dutch Design is guided by a passion for living well. As part of Sea Rover’s development, the pair are intentionally building an ecosystem of best-in-class partners across design, technology, wellness, and lifestyle. Recognizing that quality sleep is fundamental to longevity and one of the three key pillars of wellness, aligning with the category-leading partner in the space was essential.

Savoir’s rich brand history dates back to the early days of The Savoy hotel in London, where the original maRress was first introduced by the hotel’s owner, Richard D’Oyly Carte. He brought on a local upholsterer to commission the first ‘Savoy bed’ and those beds quickly became legendary, providing comfort to the likes of Sir Winston Churchill, Giacomo Puccini, and Marilyn Monroe.

In 1997, Alistair Hughes acquired The Savoy Bedworks and re-branded it Savoir Beds, which now has more than 13 showrooms worldwide and two Bedworks, one in London and one in Wales. Today, Savoir remains one of the few heritage bedmakers sIll producing each bed enIrely by hand, with master arIsans dedicaIng between 30 and 120 hours to every piece using only natural materials such as horsetail, wool, and cotton.

The collaboration will see all ten Sea Rover vessels exclusively ouaiRed by Savoir mattresses, offering those aboard a sleep experience defined by heritage and materiality. Considering Savoir’s commanding presence in the marine space, including the fact that their beds are on eight of ten of the largest superyachts currently in operaIon, Blum and Weel felt immediately drawn to the brand’s longstanding commitment to providing clients with a restorative experience both on and off land. Sea Rover owners and guests can expect breathability, temperature regulation, long-term resilience, and a consistently restful night at sea.

“For Savoir, the marine space is not new territory. We have long been the bed of choice for discerning owners who expect the same uncompromising quality at sea as they do at home. Dutch Design’s ambiIon to build the world’s only wellness-first yacht speaks directly to that mindset, and we are proud to be part of bringing that vision to life,” shares Alistair Hughes, Savoir Co-Owner and Company Director.

Beyond their alignment with Savoir, Dutch Design are making strides towards an April 2028 delivery for the very first Sea Rover. In October 2025, construcIon officially began and most recently saw the turning of the hull, marking a major advancement in the build. On the design side, California-based interior designer Paula Bruss is leading development in close collaboraIon with Blum and Weel.

As of this month, final materials and interior finishes have been selected, including performance-driven fabrics by Loro Piana planned for outdoor applicaIons and custom carpets with leather detailing by Moore & Giles. InternaIonal coordination with partners such as In Common With, Audo Copenhagen, CeramicaH, and Michael Anastassiades has supported the design team in crafting refined interiors that nod to Dutch aesthetics.

“With the first build well underway, our team feels more inspired than ever to deliver a vessel unlike anything else on the market. Sea Rover represents the evoluIon of yachIng in every sense; once complete, it will introduce a new standard for what it means to live well at sea,” adds Blum.
