The name is Savannah, it measures 83.50 meters in length (273’11 “) and it’s the first yacht, proudly built by the Dutch shipyard ‘Feadship’, that will be equipped with a hybrid engine.
The system combines a single diesel engine with three sets connected to a series of batteries. The propulsion system is composed by an azipod propeller and a traditional one. Add to that a particular high performance hull, the result of the work performed by the specialists of the Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects. A complex hull-engine-propulsion that allows a reduction of 30 per cent of consumption. The highly advanced naval platform of Savannah is the result of Feadship’s long experience and is inspired by another creation of the shipyard: Breathe, launched in 2010. “The choice of diesel, diesel-electric or fully electric is truly exceptional “says Ted McCumber, project manager for the owner, who has followed the project of Savannah.” This is the first yacht in the world to sail with the combination of azipod and variable pitch propeller. Only Feadship engineers could imagine and realize such a project. “
The exterior design is a collaborative effort between CG Design and Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects and the interiors are designed by CG Design. The new yacht Feadship has among its main features a real underwater living where guests can observe the marine wildlife on a seabed. The living room can also be turned into a movie theater. Guests are granted, in addition to the master suite, four large suites, a VIP cabin, while the crew quarters can accommodate 25 people.
