MD38, the essence of Maxi Dolphin in less than 12 metres

The MD38 by Botin Partners is a Maxi Dolphin project born from the passion of a Spanish owner. His objective is to create a mix between a day cruiser and a racer to create a class and an owner-driver regatta circuit reserved for members of his Yacht Club. Construction and equipment are state-of-the-art with extensive use of manoeuvres assisted by a sophisticated hydraulic system. This is a hull that, from what the first renderings released by Maxi Dolphin reveal, seems to be a concentrate of style and sailing elegance. 11.60 metres long and with a width of 2.92 metres, with a low freeboard, vertical bow and minimal deckhouse, it is a hull of great impact that, if transferred to the automotive world, would be a coupé of the latest generation. A hull, in short, that does not go unnoticed. Conceived for coastal navigation, for use on lakes, but not only that, it is also a boat with a clear sporting imprint, which will first and foremost aim to entertain its owner in exciting sailings.

Despite its small size and the idea of being a one-design, the MD 38 is customisable in certain aspects. One can, for example, choose to have tiller or wheel steering, a mainsail with a fixed point or fitted with a trolley, an external table or a totally uncluttered cockpit.

The sail plan is generous, with a square-top mainsail of almost 50 square metres and a self-tacking jib of 33, and a gennaker of 115 at lift. The rudder blade will be single, the planned keel draught is 2.5 metres and the displacement of 4100 kg. No date has yet been set for her launch.
