Nauta Design unveils Project Velor, a visionary 75-meter superyacht concept with a gross tonnage of 1,700 GT, powered by a flexible diesel-electric propulsion system consisting of four generators (two 1,000kW and two 500kW).
Designed to offer the comfort and functionality of a five-deck vessel on a four-deck structure, Velor redefines the architecture of life on board with understated, functional and aesthetically striking solutions that challenge the conventions of traditional nautical design.
A visual and spatial experience
Velor is a celebration of openness, light and a deep connection with the sea.
Natural light, wind, and sea enter freely thanks to an unprecedented architectural approach: large open decks, transparent platforms, and imposing staircases create a continuous flow between interior and exterior, defining an original spatial perception and extraordinary visual perspectives both towards the sea and inside the yacht.
The aesthetic language combines soft, flowing curves with sharp, chiseled edges. The result is a gentle yet decisive and contemporary presence, where geometries blend harmoniously in a dynamic and functional continuity.
The spaces open up physically and visually towards the outside: aft platforms extend gently towards the sea, while the decks seem to dissolve thanks to the elegant brise-soleil system, which filters the light, creating depth and plays of shadows.
Natural teak and the balanced combination of organic and geometric shapes accentuate the boat’s marine character, while pushing aesthetic boundaries and giving it an unmistakable identity.
Innovative layout and space optimization
Velor achieves a perfect balance between form and function through intelligent use of interior volumes and circulation flows.
A key element of this innovation is the single-level engine room, developed in collaboration with Francesco Rogantin of Studio Names. Located on the lower deck, this technical choice frees up valuable space, allowing for a more efficient and airy distribution of the rooms, with fluid and uninterrupted vertical and horizontal routes.
The interior layout is the result of careful planning of deck heights, technical spaces, and vertical connections to create varied, functional, and never redundant environments: each room has a specific function, whether it be conviviality, relaxation, well-being, or privacy.
A personal, flexible, and always livable retreat
Every area on board is designed to be usable at any time of day and in any weather condition. From the spaces in contact with the water to the more intimate and cozy ones, everything is designed to promote well-being, slowness, and reconnection—with oneself, with others, and with the surrounding environment.
“Flexibility is one of the distinctive features of Project Velor,” explains Guido Valtorta, Director of Nauta Design. “Every element of the design is conceived to adapt to the different ways in which owners experience their yacht: family moments, hospitality or escape from routine.”
A prime example is the open-air beach club, or “water patio,” a versatile area located at the stern of the lower deck, accessible directly from the sea via folding side platforms. This space can be completely opened or closed with sliding glass panels, ensuring comfort in all seasons and a smooth transition between the luxury of the interior and the freedom of the exterior.
The water patio connects naturally to the Spa & Wellness area, accompanying guests to the cabin area on an immersive and relaxing journey.
“We have been working for years on this technical solution that allows us to create a multifunctional living room directly at water level,” adds Martino Majno, Director of Nauta Design. “A space for yoga, relaxation, socializing, or contemplation, always in direct connection with the sea.”
Other key outdoor spaces, such as the upper bow deck and sun deck, embody this philosophy of flexibility. The upper deck can be reserved as a private area for the owner or used for shared moments, while the sun deck can be transformed according to use: from a relaxation area with a swimming pool to a place for children to play or stargaze.
