We went to its home port in Turkey—specifically, on the Bosphorus—to test the new Numarine 27XP. It’s the natural evolution of the XP range: an explorer yacht measuring about 27 meters (though under 24 meters for certification purposes), designed for owners seeking autonomy, comfort, and a spirit of adventure, yet who don’t want to sacrifice understated, distinctly “maritime” luxury.

Numarine 27 XP
With a length of exactly 26.97 meters and a beam of 6.90 meters, the 27XP falls into the compact explorer segment but offers the space and features typically found on higher-end yachts. The exterior design, by Can Yalman, retains the muscular and contemporary styling of the XP series, while the naval architecture developed with Umberto Tagliavini focuses on efficiency, stability, and sturdiness for long-range cruising.
Custom Interiors
One of the most interesting features of the Numarine 27XP is the option to choose between four- or five-cabin configurations, accommodating 8 or 10 guests plus crew. The large windows maximize natural light and enhance the visual connection to the sea, transforming the cabins and salons into open, airy spaces ideal for extended cruises.
The full-beam owner’s suite, the VIP cabin layout, and the more open galley all contribute to creating a modern, welcoming atmosphere that feels less compartmentalized than traditional explorer yachts. The goal is clear: to offer the feel of a large yacht in a more manageable format.
The raised bow deck and the enlarged flybridge are two central elements of the design. The forward lounge offers a spectacular view of the horizon, while the flybridge becomes a true terrace overlooking the sea, configurable with dining areas, relaxation zones, a bar, or other entertainment options. The aft cockpit, connected to the salon, completes a layout designed to blur the line between interior and exterior spaces.
The 27XP’s explorer credentials are most evident in its performance figures: with two 560-cavallo MAN engines, it reaches a top speed of about 13 knots, a cruising speed of around 10 knots, and an economical speed of 8 knots, for a claimed range of up to 2,200 nautical miles. These figures make it well-suited for long-distance voyages, anchorage stops, and sailing trips away from the most crowded routes.
