Outdoor at Sea: EMU

Fourth episode of Outdoor at Sea. Today it’s EMU‘s turn.

“At the Salone del Mobile 2025 we present the new Living Outdoor Collections, an opportunity to illustrate EMU’s journey in combining tradition and innovation. The proposals, which include Saint Martin by Marco Acerbis and Antigua by Federica Biasi, together with some extensions of the existing collections, show how metal intertwined with the softness of rope. These sofas, flexible, modular and versatile, fit perfectly into the wide range of furnishings and shading systems that characterise our brand”, explains Vittorio Biscarini, President of EMU.

In 2020 we accepted the challenge of Costa Cruises, furnishing the Costa Smeralda and Costa Toscana, strongly demonstrating the solidity, quality and reliability of our products even in the most delicate areas of hospitality at sea. Today, the boundary between indoors and outdoors is extremely thin and the design of our furniture is conceived to guarantee comfort, flexibility and durability in any environment. Open dialogue between international designers and our Design & Simulation Centre team is fundamental to producing collections with a strong EMU DNA.

EMU

In our commitment to sustainability, we make extensive use of 100% recyclable materials, such as steel and aluminium, and adopt solutions that reduce processing waste. Our use of certified teak, bamboo, non-toxic HPL and other sustainable materials, all guaranteed by internationally recognised environmental and safety certifications, is testament to our commitment to the environment. Our factory, which covers 140,000 square metres, is powered by green energy, thanks to a 1-megawatt photovoltaic system – which will soon be expanded – thus guaranteeing completely autonomous production.

At EMU we have always thought outside the box, and this is where our claim ‘We Think Outside’ comes from. The design of our furniture has always been inspired by nature, with particular attention to advanced production technologies, a wide range of colours and a mix and match of materials and collections. This philosophy allows our products to communicate naturally between indoor and outdoor. I am convinced that this flexibility of use is an essential factor in outdoor furniture and that, thanks to our wide collection, we can respond to different tastes and needs, offering high technical performance without sacrificing refined aesthetics and unparalleled comfort.
