In a very spring-like weather, M/Y “Aurora” touched the water for the very first time on a crowded dock.
The launch was scheduled for Saturday 1st of April 2017 at 11:00 AM, on the dock behind the Rossinavi shipyard in Viareggio, and everything went like clockwork.
After the blessing ceremony and the traditional christening with the champagne bottle broken over the bow, the boat has been lowered into water while at the same time five hundred balloons, three- coloured like the Italian flag, soared into the air.
A live music band entertained the nearly four hundred guests on the pier near the launch area where it has been set up a rich cocktail and a lounge area to carry on with the celebrations.
M/Y Aurora, a 49M aluminium super yacht, intelligently juxtaposes the owner’s passion for sport and adventure with a luxuriously detailed and modern interior living space. Car-racing cues and sporty elements are exaggerated and expanded to super-yacht proportions.
The exterior design has been penned by Fulvio De Simoni, Interior Desing has been drawn by Achille Salvagni while the naval engineering is by Arrabito Naval Architects.
Aurora features a spacious, open concept layout, with three large social areas, including a sunbathing area or “beach saloon.” The beach area precedes a recessed but completely open dining space that maintains maximum privacy without compromising the benefits of the exposure to the outdoors.
This yacht has multiple expansive windows offering impressive panoramic views, the result of two “cuts,” like two vents in a sports car, along the bow of the boat. Aurora’s two owners’ cabins, each with unobstructed views of the water, are equipped with large balconies (55 metres), ideal for al fresco dining. Aurora’s garage is capable of accommodating all the trappings of a true sportsman at sea – including two tenders, a number of jet skis and scuba diving equipment.
“Aurora reflects the active lifestyle of its owners, in the sporty look and feel of this 156-foot vessel,” explains Salvagni. “What is remarkable is that we have married normally opposing aesthetics – a sporty elegance and fluid, modern sensuality – and have created a real sense of home for them.”
Salvagni has infused the interiors of Aurora with a number of luxurious, unexpected materials, including limed sycamore veneer walls, dark polished ebony details and brushed natural teak flooring that peaks out from under custom hand knotted silk carpets. Adding a contemporary twist, there are accents of gunmetal bronze and curves of Carrara marble. Paper-silk wallpaper decorates the guest cabins, main foyer and cabinet bases.
In keeping with the sportive theme, Aurora’s custom whirlpool and fully equipped gym are state of the art. Salvagni ensures the most relevant and cutting-edge technologies, including LED lighting, an 80” curved 4K UHD television, fully functioning sauna and 120” LED wall cinema are seamlessly integrated into the design. Even the impressive wine cellar, with space for 500 bottles, has state-of-the-art temperature controls and password protection for the exclusive use of the owner.
