Sea Time by Top Yacht Design: On the waves of time

Sea Time by Top Yacht Design. As boundless as the sea. The world of watchmaking continues to be an inexhaustible source of surprises and emotions. Just like those we are trying to convey to you through the pag- es of this special issue. The theme, never before as this year, promises to be a hot one.
Many of the novelties presented at Watches and Wonders have found an important source of inspiration on the sixth continent. Not only that. In some cases, as with Tudor and Paneari, the sea carved out a space for itself in the physical sense of the term. In fact, it was the America’s Cup that, in its 37th edition, will bring to the fore the hands of no less than three watch manufacturers.

The confirmation of Omega, in the dual role of official timekeeper of the America’s Cup and Emirates Team Zealand, and Panerai for the second time alongside Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli Team, was joined this time by Tudor. For the Swiss maison, this is an absolute first. Again at the Geneva show, it conceived of its exhibition space as the Luna Rossa team’s base, with the LEQ12, the laboratory boat used by the Italian team during training, gracing the scene. Staying on the theme, Alpina’s role is also worth mentioning. The Swiss brand was present in Geneva fresh from its experience as official timekeeper of the Arkea Ultim Challenge, the solo round-the-world race. But the sea in watchmaking can find other unique interpretations such as those suggested by Nomos Glashütte. To celebrate the Saxon town’s 175 years of watchmaking tradition, the German maison presented 31 colourful references of the Tangente 38 date, some of which, needless to say, echoed the shades of the marine universe. Sea Time by Top Yacht Design
