Drawing on its trademark combination of technological innovation, superb design, robust safety, sublime comfort and passion for the sea, Ferretti Yachts is launching yet another new challenge to the market with its latest flagship. Stretching 30 metres in length with a predicted top speed of 28 knots, the yacht is graced with the tagline “Just Like Home”, meaning she embodies comfort, Italianness, timeless design and craftsmanship.
All hallmarks that make the new Ferretti Yachts 1000 unique. “The new Ferretti Yachts flagship,” explains her architect Filippo Salvetti, “reveals a new language in forms that are even more spare, even cleaner, giving her a strong, spontaneous, elegant stance”.
The result of a joint effort involving Salvetti, the Product Strategic Committee chaired by Piero Ferrari, the Ferretti Group Engineering Department and IdeaeItalia for the interior concept, the Group’s new flagship is not just a tour de force of styling and design innovation, it is also the first yacht in the brand’s history to make extensive use of carbon-fibre. The hard top, which essentially creates the Ferretti Yachts 1000’s profile, is made entirely from it, in fact. A move that is also a very definite sign of the new era the yard is ushering in.
A new era begun with the Ferretti Yachts 500 but which extended to the entire range, expressed in its innovation and revolutionary styling as well as its size. But carbon-fibre is not the only big news from the Ferretti Yachts 1000. Its overall arrangement is another. In another first for the brand, it is a wide body model with a deck layout that is very sporty indeed.
The lines also reflect the design philosophy embraced in the last few models but clothe new glass forms on the sides and also amidships. The most significant novelty, however, is that the entire yacht is wide body offering a huge amount of space available and an opportunity as Salvetti is keen to point out to “introduce a new concept of flow aboard aimed at becoming an iconic feature of the large yachts in the range”.
As we step virtually aboard the Ferretti flagship, we realise we can move directly from the 40 sqm beach club made up of the stern platform and cockpit, to the flybridge. Another direct aft-forward connection is made by the two walkways that lead from the sofa at the foot of the wheelhouse windshield to the al fresco lounge just before the technical area forward. The side walkways don’t just provide easy access to the fly, forward area and bridge, but they also lead directly into the interiors.
These are wonderfully spacious and ergonomic with the saloon as the focal point, thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows which, when open, create a stunning seafront terrace. Completing the main deck area is a 10 sqm galley facing onto the dining area in the saloon and the full beam master suite with its bathroom, a wonderful confection of wood and marble.
The guest quarters are down on the lower deck together with the crew and captain’s quarters. They comprise four two-berth staterooms – the two forward can be furnished with single beds also. The design is modern but respectful of Ferretti Yachts’ maritime tradition. Wood of various types dominates and together with various fabrics and trims, creates charming contrasts with marble and glass. The resulting look and ambience is of exceptional comfort. A choice of two different interior design directions offers another element of wellbeing. The first is classic and in traditional colours with gentle contrasts while the second has a bolder, more contemporary palette.
Two different interpretations but also two examples of the kind of versatility that provides owners with huge choice in tailoring the onboard living experience of their choice. Because the main impression aboard the new Ferretti Yachts 1000 is a sense of sublime and utter ease and relaxation. Just Like Home.
