For the build of its latest commission, a 34m aluminium Explorer, Van der Valk has brought together a real royal flush of partners. Because the owners’ instructions were so specific, the exteriors are being designed by Guido de Groot Yacht Design with Diana Yacht Design doing the interiors and Naval Architects the naval engineering and architecture. Hull Vane will be installing the hull vane, a kind of aft wing, it is named after.
As existing Van der Valk clients, the owners gave very clear instructions: they wanted a safe boat with a bow with good wave piercing that would also be accessible to guests with limited mobility. It was to have very high ceilings and a generous multipurpose al fresco aft area. A challenge that both designers and architects relished. The resulting trideck has rounded modern lines and an extremely raked upper deck, the overhang of which shelters the exterior area of the main deck, the fulcrum of onboard socialising. Five cabins include a VIP with private terrace on the bridge deck, the master suite with office, two two-berths and a single on the lower deck. Delivery is scheduled for 2021.
