The new issue of Top Yacht Design is on the stands

Every project is a new journey

Something intangible that takes shape over time, with dedication and courage from those who believe that every dream deserves to come true. That’s where it all begins: with the intuition that precedes the action, the spark that ignites the imagination and sets a new story in motion. This issue of Top Yacht Design is proof of that. Page after page, a story takes shape that goes beyond design and innovation to embrace the thinking and culture from which every project is born. Because a yacht is never just a boat: it is the expression of an evolution, of a vision capable of transcending mere function to embrace emotion, harmony with nature and a relationship with time. In these stories, there are those who reinterpret living at sea in a sustainable way, those who blend tradition and avant-garde, and those who add a new piece to the universe of yacht design starting from an intuition. This is precisely what unites the protagonists of this issue: the power of ideas. Ideas that open new routes, inspire change and rewrite the rules. Like those that led to the creation of Magic Carpete. Of course, this is a new generation maxi racer, designed to win on the most competitive regatta courses.

But for once, performance is not everything. There is much more behind it: the vision of Sir Lindsay Owen-Jones, who imagined the first 100-foot racing yacht capable of competing for an entire day without using fossil fuels. A bold challenge that brought together some of the brightest minds in the industry: from Guillaume Verdier to Cariboni, to Persico Marine. The result? We reveal all in these pages. Having had the privilege of steering it, I can only say that it is an experience that is difficult to put into words. But it represents, once again, the visionary power that fuels the world of yacht design. The same power that guided, for example, the Custom Line 50 project, which once again brought together the creative talent of two names of the calibre of Filippo Salvetti, who designed the exteriors, and Studio ACPV ARCHITECTS Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, who designed the interiors. This is a flagship in every sense of the word, inaugurating a new concept of living at sea. Starting with the decision to dedicate an entire deck on the upper level to the owner. This choice has led to a complete rethink, starting with the helm station, which has been moved to the main deck. The Custom Line 50 confirms once again that change is possible, especially when it brings solutions that enhance the quality of life on board. Today, this increasingly means the ability to establish a strong connection with nature and the marine environment. This brings us back once again to the importance of the emotional component. This is what Pierre Casiraghi experienced, for example, at the start of the Admiral’s Cup. Not just any regatta, but the oldest team sailing event in the world. A kind of Davis Cup of sailing. Casiraghi did not want to miss it. He flew the colours of the Yacht Club de Monaco, of which he is vice-president, at the helm of Jolt 6. We met him on the eve of the start. It was an opportunity to interview him and learn more about his passion for sailing and the sea. Because, ultimately, the sea, sailing and design share the same nature: that of those who always look beyond the horizon, imagining new routes, challenging limits and pursuing beauty. And this issue of Top Yacht Design has charted that course.
