The Wider yard made its first appearance since its sale at the Monaco Yacht Show where it presented the project for the new Wider 180. Designed by Andrea Vallicelli, this 54’s very generous volumes will be clothed in clean, spare lines. The yacht was presented at a party in the Hotel Hermitage in Eze at which Wider president Marcello Maggi told those gathered: “I am very enthusiastic about this new project both because of its lines and its green soul which is something we believe in very strongly.
We have opened the way to electric propulsion for luxury superyachts and this is the right direction to be going in – there is no fear of us turning back!” Like all Wider yachts before it, the 180’s big signature is its beach club which covers a massive 160 sqm and includes a saltwater pool, a spa and a gym area.
It can also accommodate a 10m tender and the Floating Launching System makes deploying and retrieving the latter craft very simple indeed. This yacht is most definitely another step in the direction of 100 per cent electric propulsion and is equipped with a main and an emergency generator. The first example should begin building at the start of 2020 and touch the water in February 2022.
