Hausmann & Co Prize – Dedicated to the talented

The Hausmann & Co Prize has been missing for two years. An enforced absence due to the restrictions caused by the pandemic that did not allow it to run smoothly.  (Here all the post we’ve published about Hausmann & Co)

The void was felt. Hence the enthusiasm and interest that accompanied the holding of the 7th edition of the Hausmann & Co. Prize. An event that goes beyond the logic of awarding a prize.

Hausmann & Co Prize - Dedicated to the talented

There is much more. To begin with, there is a bond between the Roman House, led by the Hausmann and Frielingsdorf families, and the capital city that has lasted for over 225 years.

A bond that, it should be emphasised, in the 1930s was enriched with new content thanks to the patronage activity started by Hausmann & Co. with the aim of enhancing and giving visibility to the talent of the many Italian and foreign artists and intellectuals who, precisely in that era of great ferment, frequented the Eternal City.

The Hausmann & Co. Prize and its history

In the wake of that experience, in 2013 the Hausmann & Co. Group became the promoter of an initiative that in the space of almost ten years became a leading event in the panorama of Italian and foreign culture.

The first edition of the Hausmann & Co. Prize – Dedicated to the talented” began by focusing on the art of music. On that occasion, it was the graduating composers of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia who received the award. The rest is history.

A history studded with other important moments in which the themes linked to the world of art, declined in all its forms, alternated with those linked to scientific research. And so in 2014, the coveted prize featured young oncology researchers from the Pasteur Institute and La Sapienza University.

The following year it was the turn of three students from the Academy of Fine Arts to take the stage to receive the award. 2016 once again saw science in the world of medicine take centre stage with a donation to the Bambino Gesù Foundation in Rome and support for the ‘Vite Coraggiose’ (Courageous Lives) project, which placed the fight against generic and rare diseases at the centre of research activities.

Lastly, 2017 was the year of the seventh art with the prize awarded to the students of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, which has always been a breeding ground for new talents in the fields of directing, set design and acting; while 2018 saw ENEA and seven researchers under 40 take the limelight for particularly innovative projects, three of which are the subject of patents in the fields of earthquake-proof building, sustainable building and food.

Hausmann & Co Award in support of young opera talents

The spotlight was shone on opera in all its manifold forms. Hence the desire on the part of the Rome Opera House to provide support to all the promising young talents who want to embark on a career as director, set designer, singer, costume designer, and master collaborator, coming out of the ‘Factory’ Young Artist Programme the selective training course promoted by the Rome Opera House.

The award ceremony, which for the first time saw the involvement of IWC Schaffhausen, was held in the exceptional setting of the Terme di Caracalla.

The 250 guests had the opportunity to attend an open-air concert performed by the talents of “Fabbrica”, which was followed by the presentation of the awards in the presence of Francesco Hausmann and Giulia Mauro, Managing Directors of the Hausmann & Co. Group, Thomas Perini, Regional Director of IWC Schaffhausen, and Francesco Giambrone, Superintendent of the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.
