The Frauscher 1212 Ghost, nominated for both Best of Boat in Berlin and ‘Boat of the Year 2021’ at Boot Düsseldorf, is the result of years of development and incorporates features from both the yard’s smaller models and its flagship, the 1414 Demon. (Here all our posts about Frauscher)
The missing link
The new 1212 Ghost, after all, is the missing link between the 1414 Demon and the Frauscher 1017 GT, and enters the hard-fought 12-metre market segment.
The large side air intakes, which had already been featured on the 747 Mirage and later on the 1414 Demon, recall the yard’s two cult models and characterise the boat’s design. In 12 metres, the intention was to create a pure daycruiser, but one that would also leave the owner free to spend a night or weekend away.
Frauscher 1212 Ghost: a clean and elegant design
A major challenge for the yard, which presents this model with the aim of enhancing performance and sailing comfort and, above all, offering uncompromising design combined with maximum functionality for an incomparable feeling of safety, comfort and performance.
Designed, like the rest of the fleet, by Harry Miesbauer, the waterline is a decidedly elegant hull that benefited from the talents of Austrian designer Stephan Everwin for the deck and interior. Everwin opted for a minimalist design, without frills or special effects, but with a clear automotive inspiration that hints at his collaborations with Porsche.
What is surprising at first glance is how this boat has managed to maintain the family feeling without a shadow of a doubt, while at the same time introducing innovations that make it a new hull, not an expanded or compressed version of the two models to which it belongs.
A few, unmistakable features
The wide teak deck, frameless windscreen and iconic vertical bow are among the main features of the 1212 Ghost. The aft section is characterised by the generous teak swim platform, framed by an innovative ‘open’ profiling of the sides.
There is also a large, incredibly high, spacious and versatile cabin. In fact, thanks to the electrically fold-down lounge area table, it is possible to transform the room into an elegant double cabin, while the spacious and complete washroom features a ceiling whose height guarantees excellent movement possibilities.
Frauscher 1212 Ghost: the thrill and fun of driving
All in all, the 1212 Ghost is a stylish, elegant yet functional day cruiser, thanks to features such as the retractable bimini and retractable anchor. It is characterised by extraordinary driving comfort, thanks to the bow thruster, the functional joystick and the perfect view of the pilot seat, positioned exactly on the centreline of the boat.
Powered by two Mercruiser inboard petrol engines of 430HP each or two Volvo Penta D6-440Hp inboard diesel engines, the boat offers a range of up to 300 miles on an 850-litre fuel tank and achieves a remarkable top speed of 46 knots.
