Speed, elegance, and leading-edge technology are the main ingredients of the yard’s enduring success story. Now the aim of CEO Andrea Frabetti, a long-time manager of the Italian boating industry, is to raise the bar still higher to ensure the company becomes one of the top three players in the international market.

The investment plan required to do this is, bx+y any standards, colossal and bears the stamp of the aforementioned Frabetti, who was handpicked by Sunseeker’s Chinese majority owner Wang Jianlin for the job. With 60 million sterling (around 70 million euro) to play with, Sunseeker embraced the challenge with relish and produced at least 10 new products between 2020 and 2021. These include the Sunseeker 88 Yacht, perhaps one of the most emblematic models of the yard’s new direction in terms of interior and exterior design and solutions. Due to its length (26 metres) and spec, the Sunseeker 88 Yacht slots perfectly into the middle of its range.

It also sports the great signature of the new generation Sunseeker: the transom Beach Club, a fantastic spot for guests to sunbathe or simply chat as they commune with the marine environment. Accessed by dual teak staircases with recessed LED lighting, this lovely outdoor sanctuary includes the innovative X-TEND™ sunbed which can face aft at water level or into the cockpit when raised forward. There is even an overhead rain shower and lockers complete with charging points for two SeaBobs.
The extended swim platform can also be used to stow a Williams 435 Sportjet tender or a Seadoo Spark 3 Up. One of the most enjoyable exterior spaces aboard the Sunseeker 88 Yacht, however, has to be the huge flybridge where owners also have the option of an infinity spa tub and sun pad that afford spectacular 360° sea views through glass bulwarks. There is also companion seating adjacent to the helm in addition to an extended wraparound U-shaped sofa opposite a feature wet bar. This entire area is sheltered by a large hardtop with optional panels that can be angled to adjust shade levels.
Moving into the Sunseeker 88’s interior, the saloon on the main deck is a very pleasant surprise indeed. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the interior with light making this already generous space feel even larger and more welcoming. The galley lies forward alongside the helm and delivers an astonishing amount of storage for anything and everything as well as a full-height premium fridge-freezer and dishwasher as standard. There is even room for wine coolers should the owner wish.
Lastly, a fixed breakfast bar unit with two stools is great for casual early morning nibbles and coffees. Sunseeker also offers an option to fully close off the galley, so that crew can work away between galley and lower helm while guests enjoy complete privacy.

The wealth of finishes aboard is matched by a great abundance of storage spaces dotted around the entire main saloon and lower deck. The sumptuously appointed master stateroom is located centrally to make the very most of the generous beam. A 55” television comes as standard as does a dressing area with double closet and an en suite bathroom with sublime surfaces, two hand basins and an overhead rain shower.
A clever mix of woods, lacquer finishes, and diagonal stainless steel detailing on both cabinetry and doors completes a luxurious but subtle look that effortlessly balances the timeless and the modern so that even long stays aboard will prove a pleasure. There is also a VIP stateroom forward with its own bathroom as well as two other twin cabins, also en suite. Each has a floor-to-ceiling wardrobe and large windows for plentiful daylight.

Propulsion-wise, the Sunseeker 88 sports two 2,000 hp MTU V10s, and these unleash a speed of 28 knots at full throttle yet will also give the chance of a range of 1,300 nm at a more leisurely 12.
